Judd & Black's Appliance Experts share quick video tips on choosing the right fridge, dishwasher, and more, plus what to expect from delivery to service.

Have you ever felt like making a big purchase sometimes feels like a risky guessing game? The real difference between being happy with your purchase and being stuck with buyer's remorse usually comes down to the information, advice, and insights you get along the way.

So when it comes to making your first major appliance purchase, it makes sense that you would do extensive research online. You will also likely ask friends and family about their buying experiences. Then inevitably, you'll encounter a sales associate, and this is the part a lot of first-time appliance buyers misunderstand: not all sales associates are created equal.

Our Appliance Experts work specifically with major home appliances every day, and that kind of focused, hands-on experience is something that associates at a big-box store simply can't match; department stores are the epitome of a jack of all trades, but master of none. The expertise our Appliance Experts can provide translates directly into time saved, money spent wisely, and a lot less second-guessing. See it in action in these quick clips from our showroom floor.

Service That Goes a Little Further

Why a Knowledgeable Sales Specialist Can Save You Time, Money, and Frustration

Your feedback matters because it's the reason we keep getting better, not just in one department, but company-wide.

Key Takeaways

Your feedback gets used, not just read, shaping training, scheduling, and follow-up across every department at Judd & Black.

Whether it's a quick star rating or a few sentences about what happened, every piece of feedback reaches the team it's about.

A good star rating among hundreds of reviews and awards like Best of the Northwest show the feedback loop is actually working.

Why Your Feedback Matters to Us

Judd & Black holds a 4.7-star rating across 300+ Google reviews at our Marysville showroom alone, and that doesn't happen by accident. It happens because every review, every survey answer, and every conversation you have with our team gets used, not just read. No matter which part of Judd & Black you interact with, your feedback shapes what happens next.

Where Your Feedback Comes From

Feedback reaches us in a lot of ways. Google and Yelp reviews tell us what stood out about a visit, good or bad. Check-ins after a sale or a repair ask pointed questions about the experience. Conversations on the sales floor give our team a read on what shoppers actually need. And after every service call, our technicians report back on how the job went and what the customer had to say. Four different channels, but they all feed the same place.

How Feedback Shapes What We Do

Reviewers often praise our Appliance Experts, like Cory and Jordy, for walking customers through their options without pressure. That doesn't happen by chance; it comes from real training, and reviews about those conversations help shape that training. We learn what customers are looking for and build on that. A note about a missed callback changes how and when we follow up. A comment about a scheduling mix-up adjusts how we book appointments. And because our service technicians are in-house, the only union, factory-trained team in Washington state, feedback about a repair visit goes straight to the person who did the work. Sales, product knowledge, scheduling, service, and follow-up all answer to the same feedback loop.

Follow-up is where a lot of this comes together. A sale or a repair isn't the end of the relationship; it's a checkpoint. We check back in to confirm the appliance is working the way it should and the experience matched what we promised. If something didn't go the way it should have, that's exactly the kind of feedback that helps us fix it for the next customer too.

Proof the Feedback Loop Is Working

A good star rating among hundreds of reviews, plus awards like Best of Snohomish County, Best of the Northwest and Best of the Best, show that the loop is working. But even when a review isn't glowing, we treat it as a teaching moment, not a setback. We look at what happened, share it with the team it involves, and use it to do better for the next customer. A quiet problem never gets better, so we would rather hear about a rough scheduling day or a slow callback than not hear about it at all.

Common Questions About Feedback at Judd & Black

Does customer feedback actually change anything at Judd & Black? Yes. We are listening. Every review, survey answer, and team report we get goes right back to the department it concerns, sales, service, or scheduling, so changes happen close to where the issue came up.

Does it matter if I leave a short review or a long one? Both help. A quick star rating tells us something is working, and a few sentences about what happened tell us why. Either one gets read by the team it's about.

Why Your Feedback Matters to Us

Wondering if shopping with an appliance expert is worth it? The right guidance upfront saves more than time. It can mean the difference between a purchase you love and one you settle for.

Most people spend more time researching a new appliance than they spend in the store buying it. Hours of reading reviews, comparing models, and still walking out unsure if they made the right call. It doesn't have to be that way. The difference usually comes down to who's helping you, and how well they actually know the products.

When Appliance Knowledge Is a Mile Wide and an Inch Deep

At a large home improvement store or electronics chain, you'll find plenty of appliances on the floor. You may also find staff who might cover multiple departments across a very large store. Appliances today, grills tomorrow, flooring the week after due to turnover or staffing changes.

In that environment, gaining deep product expertise is hard and appliances are too big a purchase to leave that to chance. The questions that matter most, like how two similar models actually differ in real-world performance, or which brands hold up well over time in real homes, deserve a real answer from someone who has spent real time learning them.

What an Appliance Expert Actually Knows

At Judd & Black, appliances are all we do. Every person on the showroom floor is an Appliance Expert, and that title reflects something real.

Our team receives ongoing training on the products they sell, often directly from the manufacturers themselves. That means when a brand updates a platform, introduces a new feature, or changes how a model performs, our Appliance Experts hear about it from the people who built it. They know what's new, what's improved, and what's worth paying attention to this model year.

Over time, that focused experience builds into something genuinely valuable. Our Appliance Experts understand how products perform in real homes, which brands have strong service histories, and how to match what they know to what your household actually needs.

How That Knowledge Works in Your Favor

When you work with someone who truly knows the products, the whole experience becomes more efficient and more confident:

You save time. Instead of researching for hours and still feeling uncertain, you have a real conversation with someone who can cut to what matters for your specific situation.

You walk out confident. Knowing that someone with deep product knowledge helped you land on the right model is a very different feeling than hoping you chose well.

You get the full picture upfront. Sizing, utility hookups, delivery logistics, warranty details — things that are easy to overlook become easy to plan for when someone walks you through them before you buy.

Your budget goes where it counts. A good Appliance Expert helps you understand which upgrades are genuinely worth it for your life and which ones you can skip with confidence.

A Shopping Experience That Feels Different

Judd & Black customers mention something in their reviews that goes beyond product selection. They talk about the atmosphere. No pressure. No upselling. Room to ask questions and take their time.

When the person helping you is focused entirely on finding what works for your home rather than moving product off the floor, the conversation changes. You can say you're not sure. You can ask what might feel like a basic question. You can think it through. Our Appliance Experts are there to help you get it right, and that's exactly what the experience is built around.

Ready to Find the Right Appliance?

There's a real difference between shopping with someone who knows appliances deeply and hoping you get lucky with whoever's on the floor that day. Come experience it for yourself.

Visit our Appliance Experts at any of our locations across Northwest Washington in Bellingham, Mount Vernon, Marysville, Everett, and Lynnwood. Why Shopping With An Appliance Expert Is Worth It

Buying a new appliance? Ask these questions first, from sizing and setup to features and warranties. Judd & Black's Appliance Experts make it easy.

Key Takeaways

When buying a new appliance, answering a few questions can set you up for a purchase you’ll love.

The best appliance for your home may not be the one with the most features. It’s the one that matches how your household actually lives.

Most people measure the space but forget to measure the path. Doorways, hallways, and stairwells matter just as much as the opening itself.

Warranty and local service options are easy to overlook when you’re excited about a new purchase. They matter a lot more once something needs attention.

Appliances aren’t something most people shop for very often. So when the refrigerator finally gives out, or it’s time to replace the washer and dryer, it can feel like walking into unfamiliar territory. With all the brands, models and features available, the good news is you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. Coming into Judd & Black with the answers to a few helpful questions, or even just a sense of what you need, makes the whole process a lot smoother.

Here’s a guide to the questions worth asking before you buy, and what good answers look like.

Question 1: What Size Do I Actually Need?

This is one of the most important things to think through. It’s not just about whether the appliance fits in the space. It’s about whether it can get there in the first place. Doorways, hallways, and stairwells all matter.

Before you fall in love with a refrigerator, measure the opening it needs to fit into, and then figure out the path from your front door to your kitchen. Same goes for a washer and dryer if they live in a tight laundry room or a closet.

Beyond dimensions, think about capacity. A compact washer might work fine for one person. A family of five needs something different.

At Judd & Black, our Appliance Experts walk through sizing and clearances with every customer when the conversation starts, so you don’t end up with something that doesn’t fit.

Question 2: Does This Work With My Home’s Current Setup?

Not every home is wired or plumbed for every appliance. Gas ranges need a gas line. Some dryers require a specific electrical outlet. Dishwashers and refrigerators with ice makers need water connections.

Knowing your home’s setup before you shop makes the whole conversation more productive. At Judd & Black, your Appliance Expert will ask about these details right away, so every recommendation fits your home from the start.

Question 3: How Does Your Household Actually Use This Appliance?

This is where the conversation gets interesting. Not everyone uses their kitchen the same way. Someone who cooks elaborate meals every night has different needs than someone who reheats leftover takeout and makes coffee. A household that runs daily loads of laundry may benefit from a different washer than someone doing laundry every ten days.

There’s no wrong answer here. It’s just useful information that helps narrow down the right fit. The more you share about how your household actually lives, the better the recommendation you’ll get. This is exactly the kind of conversation our Appliance Experts are trained to have.

Question 4: What Features Will You Actually Use?

Appliances come loaded with features these days. Steam cycles, Wi-Fi connectivity, air-fry modes, dual compressors, flexible drawer configurations. Some of these are genuinely useful. Others sound exciting in the showroom and get ignored at home.

Ask which features match how you’ll realistically use the appliance. A feature you won’t use isn’t a reason to pay more. But a feature that solves a real problem in your daily routine? That is usually worth every penny. Our Appliance Experts are good at helping you tell the difference.

Question 5: What’s the Reliability Record for This Brand and Model?

This is one of the most important questions, and one of the hardest to answer on your own. Online reviews can be helpful, but they’re also noisy. What you really want is to speak with someone who has extensive experience with appliances, someone who knows which brands and models have strong track records and which will serve your household well for years.

This is where shopping at a specialty appliance retailer makes a real difference. Judd & Black’s Appliance Experts know the products they carry in depth, including how they perform over time. That perspective is hard to find anywhere else.

What to Ask About the Purchase Itself

Before you finalize anything, make sure you’re clear on the details that come after you say yes:

Delivery and installation: What are the available options, and what do they include? Knowing the full process upfront helps everything go smoothly.

Warranty: What does it cover, and for how long? Is it a manufacturer warranty, a store warranty, or both?

Local service: Judd & Black has an in-house service team of trained employees who know the brands and models they sell. When you need service after the sale, you’re working with the same level of expertise you got on the showroom floor.

These details are part of the purchase process, and they’re worth asking about before you leave the store.

You Don’t Have to Have All the Answers Walking In

Most people who come into a Judd & Black showroom don't know exactly what they need. That’s completely normal. Our Appliance Experts start from scratch with customers every day, walking through space requirements, household habits, budget, and priorities together.

It’s a big purchase. It should feel like a conversation, not a transaction.

A Quick Guide to Every Judd & Black Location

We’ve asked Chad, Sales Manager for Judd & Black, to answer questions about what it’s like to shop at a Judd & Black Appliance Store.

Need new appliances? Sure, you could try to shop at the big box stores with an appliance section or take a chance and order something online and hope it works out. But wouldn’t it be easier to go to the appliance experts at Judd & Black?

This month, we’ve asked Chad, Sales Manager for Judd & Black, to answer questions about what it’s like to shop at a Judd & Black Appliance Store. Chad is an appliance expert who has been with Judd & Black for over 25 years. He currently specializes in assisting builders and designers with appliance needs and works to train others at Judd & Black. To say that Chad knows appliances is an understatement. Fun Fact: Chad’s dad also worked with the company for 46 years!

What is Judd & Black known for?

Chad: We’re expert appliance professionals. We service what we sell with our in-home repair service. When you reach out to Judd & Black, you’ll get a real human to give you real answers – in-store and on the phone. That doesn’t always happen at the big box stores.

What is it like to shop at a Judd & Black Appliance Store?

Chad: When you visit a Judd & Black store, you can see our best-selling brands (over 30 brands on display!) and work with an experienced appliance expert to find the right appliance for your home. It’s not always easy to figure out what to buy, and we want you to know that we are here to help.

Where is Judd & Black?

Chad: There are five showroom locations in northwest Washington: Bellingham, Mount Vernon, Everett, Marysville & Lynnwood. We also have a Liquidation Center and Distribution Warehouse in Everett.

What should I bring with me to the store?

Chad: One of the most helpful things to bring is measurements (height, width, and depth.) Not only for the dimensions of the appliance you are replacing but also the space that it goes into. If you can, take pictures of the room and appliance location. You should also have a budget and bring info for any specific brands/models you’re interested in.

Will I browse the store on my own? Or can someone assist me?

Chad: Whatever your preference. You are welcome to check out the showroom, but please know that our team is truly there to help. We have excellent staff at all our locations with years of experience and know what questions to ask you so we can narrow the choices down to the best possible options for you. Whether you’re a blank slate or have an exact model number in hand, need one appliance, or a suite of them, working with an appliance expert at Judd & Black can usually save you time, money, and frustration.

Do you offer sale prices or price-match other stores?

Chad: Yes, Judd & Black offers sales and special offers on various appliances throughout the year. We also have access to exclusive rebates that the chain stores don’t get. Let us know if you’ve shopped somewhere else and found the appliance at a lower price. We usually can price match on the same brand and model.

Once I’ve purchased an appliance, how do I get it home, and how long will it take?

Chad: Judd & Black has a full warehouse of available inventory. If it’s in stock, you can take it with you or get it delivered as soon as the same day in some cases. If it needs to be ordered, we’re glad to say that supply chain issues seem to be easing up, but check with us to get more information about your purchase.

Who will deliver and install it?

Chad: For items like refrigerators, washers and dryers, electric ranges, and BBQs, the deliveries and installations are made by a team of Judd & Black employees in Judd & Black trucks. For dishwashers and gas-related items with more complicated installs, deliveries are by Judd & Black, and we use a trusted partner for installation services.

Is there something you wish people knew about Judd & Black?
